The Institute of Animal Hygiene and Public Veterinary Services exists since 30/8/1994, when the Institute of Animal Hygiene, Epidemiology and Environmental Protection and the Institute of Public Veterinary Services were united.

Research
Our research focuses on questions of animal hygiene: How do diseases develop? How do they spread? How can we reduce pathogens and prevent epidemics? How do we enable animal husbandry free of suffering?
Zentrum Veterinary Public Health
The "Zentrum Veterinary Public Health" is a cooperation between the Institute of Animal Hygiene and Public Veterinary Services and the Institute of Food Hygiene.

Our facility is located in the southwest of Leipzig, only a few kilometres from the city centre. You can easily reach us by public transport or by car.
